LORD OF THE RINGS 8-Day TOUR THROUGH NEW ZEALAND
This Lord of the Rings tour is a great tour combining the major New Zealand highlights with landmarks you’ll recognize from the famous Lord of the Rings movies. You’ll see the major cities of Auckland, Queenstown, and Christchurch and the natural beauties of Waitomo Caves, Rotorua, Milford Sound, and Mt. Cook. Plus, you will journey to the set of “Hobbiton,” see the film locations for Lothlorien, Isengard, Ithilien Camp, and Amon Hen, and travel through the scenery used to portray Pelennor Fields and the Misty Mountains.

Travel south through lush Waikato farmland to Waitomo for a boat ride under a starry expanse of glow worms at Waitomo Glowworm Caves Enjoy a picnic lunch served onboard the coach as you continue east to Rotorua, steeped in Maori culture and history. Tonight enjoy a Maori hangi (feast) and concert.
Stay 2 nights: Rotorua
This morning see roaring geysers and boiling mud pools at Te Puia Geothermal Experience, tame trout at Rainbow Springs Wildlife Park and watch performing sheep and dogs at the Agrodome Sheep Show. This afternoon you will be taken to the “Hobbiton Movie Set Tour”.
Continue south to Wairakei – wreathed by steam, then to Taupo. Skirt Lake Taupo, and cross the volcanic landscape of the Desert Road past the majestic peaks of Tongariro, Ngaruahoe and Ruapehu. Continue across the fertile plains of Manawatu and along the rugged Kapiti coastline to Wellington.
Stay 2 nights: Wellington
Take a full day Lord of the Rings tour to Wellington’s film set locations including Rivendell, Helms Deep and much more. Visit the Weta Cave and find out about New Zealand’s five time Oscar Award winning production company. Lunch included.
Be transferred to Wellington Airport for your flight to Queenstown. On arrival in Queenstown the rest of your day is at leisure.
Stay 3 nights: Queenstown
Today you’ll travel up to Milford Sound, the Fiordland’s most famous and accessible glacier-carved fiords. On arrival, you’ll take a cruise through the deep blue waters seeing cascading waterfalls, sheer cliffs, dense rainforest, towering mountains and wildlife ranging from dolphins to penguins. Arrive back in Queenstown this evening.
This morning, join your 4WD tour to see these Lord of the Rings filming sites: Lothlorien, Isengard, Ithilien Camp, and Amon Hen. Enjoy your afternoon at leisure in Queenstown or take another tour (additional expense) to the following: Ford of Bruinen, Misty Mountains, Pillars of the Kings, and the Road to Mordor.
Travel via coach to Mt. Cook. Along the way, you’ll see the familiar scenery of the Rings’ Pelennor Fields, Misty Mountains, and White Mountains’ foothills. Stop at Mt. Cook over lunch before continuing north to Christchurch, where your tour concludes.
